Alexian “Ali” Wines serves as the Chief Operating Officer at BowerGroupAsia (BGA), a strategic advisory firm that specializes in the Asia-Pacific. With 160 experts located in 24 markets across the region and Washington, D.C., BGA provides unique insights into how governments, economies, companies and individuals in the Asia-Pacific interrelate and make decisions that impact business.
As COO at BGA, Ali oversees the company’s operational aspects, including strategy, foreign office establishment, budgeting and contracting, while also navigating the organization through the complexities of international business. Prior to joining BGA, Ali worked for five years as Chief of Staff at BrooksBowerAsia.
She brings a unique and distinguished background, having served for eight years at the White House holding a range of prestigious positions under Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. As a member of the National Security Council, Ali played a key role in coordinating and implementing the presidents’ agendas and frequently accompanied Bush on international trips to promote his foreign policies. In this capacity, she gained unique insights into the importance and need for diplomacy at all levels. At the White House Counsel’s Office, Ali acted on the front lines as liaison between the executive and legislative branches of the government. During her tenure at the White House, she earned a rare view into the inner workings of numerous federal agencies, as well as the U.S. Congress.
Ali is passionate about working with children and young adults. As a motivational speaker with high school and middle school students, she coaches and inspires them in achieving their academic and personal goals. She regularly mentors fellow colleagues both in the U.S. and internationally.
Ali earned her Executive Masters in Business Administration from Georgia State University and studied American Government at the University of Virginia. She lives in Fairfax County, Virginia.
