Dominican Republic officially became the first Caribbean country to be part of the Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT) in 2018. OWIT Dominican Republic (OWIT DR) is a non-profit organization, designed and led by inclusive businesswomen, with the purpose of developing and enriching the growth of small businesses through local and international networking, workshops, conferences, advice, and services to the community. OWIT DR has the support of private and governmental organizations, both local and international, to boost the effectiveness of trade and help the members of the organization to have greater opportunities.
