This webinar will present the results of the new and recently released World Bank B-READY 2024 report, with a focus on the International Trade Topic. B-Ready is the new corporate flagship report of the World Bank, providing a quantitative assessment of the regulations and public services shaping the business environment. The presentation will focus on the methodology and first results of the 2024 report covering 50 economies. It will highlight the areas for improvement in the regulations and public services affecting international trade, including restrictions on international trade and the operation of services such as the trusted trader program and the electronic single window for trade.

Melanie Martinz
Melanie Martinz is an Analyst with the International Trade topic of the Business Ready Unit. She joined the team in July 2023. Before joining the World Bank Group, Melanie worked on digital trade policy at the St. Gallen Endowment for Prosperity through Trade. She is pursuing a PhD in Political Science at the University of Innsbruck, focusing on international trade policy. Melanie holds a Master’s degree in European and International Studies from the University of Innsbruck, where her thesis won the Best Thesis Award from the Austrian Political Science Association, and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Vienna. Alongside her studies, Melanie worked as a Research Assistant on projects in trade policy, European constitutional law, and climate change. She speaks German and Spanish.
Nuno Mendes dos Santos
Nuno Mendes dos Santos is a Private Sector Development Specialist and the Topic Lead of the International Trade team of the Business Ready Unit . He joined the team in February 2017. He works on the design and implementation of indicators on trade in goods, trade in services and digital trade. Nuno previously worked on the Trading across Borders and the Contracting with the Government topics within the Doing Business project. Prior to joining the World Bank Group, Nuno worked in the private sector, serving as the International Coordinator and the Marketing and Sales Executive at two global firms, where he was responsible for emerging markets. He holds a Master’s degree in Global Political Economy from the University of Kassel, Germany, focusing on the political economy of financial regulation in European sports, and a Licentiate Degree (with honors) in Political Science and International Relations from the New University of Lisbon, Portugal. Nuno has lived on four continents and is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish, and conversant in Catalan, French, Italian, and Turkish.
