Who is FairTrade Caravans?
FairTrade Caravans (FTC) is a social enterprise and Fair Trade Federation (FTF) member that was founded to increase sales of fair trade products in an untapped market – school and nonprofit fundraising. As a parent, founder Carol Fassino was exposed to years of school fundraisers, selling massed-produced products of unknown origins which did not send the right message to students about being educated global consumers.
Since 2017 FTC has partnered with 70 schools in 19 states. In 2020, they began to partner with nonprofits including human services and animal rescue organizations, churches, and libraries in 14 states. Fundraisers are grouped together five times per year, near holidays and specific fundraising times, allowing them to work with all size organizations. They have always given back 25% of product sales and strived to demonstrate how with each purchase, money is raised for a worthy cause, fair trade around the world is supported and a high-quality, meaningful product with a human face and story behind it is sold.

Come meet Carol Fassino, founder of FairTrade Caravans! She will show you how their custom, online fair trade fundraisers work and are supported with marketing materials and educational resources using their next fundraiser for Spring & Mother’s Day, April 8-25, 2022 as an example. Specific examples of different types of schools and nonprofits FTC has worked with will be discussed along with feedback and funds raised. Carol will also discuss how and from whom they purchase the fair trade products used in their fundraisers.
