Biographical Information
Becky has over 20 years’ experience in a multinational pharmaceutical company as a corporate compliance officer, a trade professional, and a drug discovery researcher, spanning tactical and strategic roles.
She is the founder of Urbanek Compliance Consulting LLC where she offers consulting in the areas of global trade programs, U.S. export and global economic sanctions regulations, and compliance framework development and implementation. Her consulting experience includes partnering with a management consulting firm to build the foundation for and support import and export trade compliance for a key program of a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company and direct support of export compliance for a custom drone manufacturer. Prior to the start of her consulting career, she was employed by AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals where she began as a medicinal chemist and project manager in drug discovery. Her career shifted to the compliance arena where she gained experience in numerous global corporate compliance risk areas across various business divisions. At an enterprise level Becky developed, implemented, provided oversight of and individual support for the company’s global export controls and economic sanctions (U.S., U.K, and EU) compliance program and was the single point of contact for all company questions. In support of research and early development, she called upon both her research background and trade compliance knowledge to enhance import and export compliance for customs and other government agencies by embedding controls into an existing shipping authorization system and supporting a drug development project with education, guidance, and the development of a technology control plan. In support of the global operations function, she drove the corporate compliance initiatives for 15 supply sites across eight countries.
